or running shoes or something along those lines. it seems like that would help them alot when they chase people in foot
Why do they make cops wear big frikin boots or shiny dress shoes. wouldnt it be better if they wore tenisshoes
Tennis shoes don%26#039;t provide enough protection. Most of those boots and shiny shoes have steel toes and insoles.
When you%26#039;re a cop, you need every edge you can get. Sneakers might help some in short pursuits, but nobody is ever running from one cop.
You can outrun the cop, but you can%26#039;t outrun the radio,
Reply:It%26#039;s a part of the uniform. They are to look respectable. Office personnel aren%26#039;t allowed to wear tennis shoes (most places anyway). It%26#039;s all about appearance. I understand your logic however.
Reply:the boots are a part of the uniform as well as a protective covering for the feet to prevent injury. historically, running shoes look like crap with the uniform.
Reply:I wear boots all year round. I work in a rural department where I never know if I am going to be hiking through the forest or sticking to the highways. Also boots are better when you walking in %26quot;questionable%26quot; areas or homes. You don%26#039;t want to step on something and have it go through the bottom of your shoe.
Besides, it hurts your feet when you kick down a door in tennis shoes.
Reply:There%26#039;s a lot more to it than running....
The boots also provide a lot of ankle support and sole protection - that helps if you%26#039;re wrestling with someone who doesn%26#039;t want to be arrested, or walking in unknown areas where you might step on something. While it looks better than running shoes, the boots (like the rest of the equipment) have a purpose - it%26#039;s all about safery.

Reply:It is the pride of the uniform and the profession. The person who stated something about %26quot;jack boots%26quot; sounds like someone who watches to many WW II movies and just likes being a smart a** and wanting attention.
Foot and ankle support is one reason, protection is another. I am not a police officer, but as a firefighter/paramedic, we have the same pride and professionalism in our appearance. I wouldn%26#039;t trade my uniform for anything when I was on the trucks. People who don%26#039;t have any pride in themselves to learn how to spell correctly, just shows what type of person they really are. To all of the police who wear the gear, GREAT JOB!! The rest of you.....
Reply:If your on a big Police Harley tennis shoes would burn up within minutes. All of this is for protection. Kinda hard to kick open a big *** door with sneakers. Plus when you still have not listened it%26#039;s easier to put that steel toe on the bottom of your lip. Plus it%26#039;s a uniform. Got to look sharp and professional. The shoes that are warn everyday are actually quite comfortable.
Reply:thats a good quetion...
yea they should wear plain black sneakers
Reply:Alot of our boots now feel just like tennis shoes, I have a great pair of Oakley boots that I wear for patrol, they feel just like regular shoes, and they%26#039;re tough. I also just bought a pair of 5.11 boots, that also feel just like shoes. They%26#039;re very easy to run in, and they%26#039;re high so I get alot of ankle protection.
