What is the difference between dress shoes and pumps?

For me, a dress shoe would be something in high heels which we would normally wear to a formal function. It might have glitters etc which is not so suitable for day wear. whereas pumps are shoes with a much bigger heels which I would only wear in daytime and not to a formal function.

Hope this helps and good luck.

dress shoes is a general term for shoes that people (male%26amp;female) wear for formal occasions (office environment, parties, formal social events).

pumps can be formal or casual, as long as the shoes have heels that could "pump up" ur height =D

pumps include wedges and platforms (just different types of heels)

Reply:well dress shoes can be guys shoes where pumps are only girls (i hope) also i think for girls that pumps are with a heel and dress shoes which can be pumps... are anything that looks nice and is formal but it doesnt necessarily have a heel
Reply:uhh pumps are those things on the lip of the shoe, its like an air bubble that you can squeeze and those are fun. uhh dress shoes are black and are leather usually. Unless you are talking about air pumps. Air pumps are good for basketballs, footballs, beach balls, and other inflatable stuffs. But dont ask me im just a kid....
